Not only does OnPay handle the calculations, deductions, withholdings, filings, and payments of your company's Federal and State payroll taxes, we also handle all the local city, county, burrough, district, community, township, and any other local jurisdiction's payroll taxes, too. Because this makes it critically important for you to ensure that all addresses entered are exact to avoid a fine, we've included an address helper.
What we'll cover
- How it works

- If the zip code hasn't changed, is this really still important?

- Paying employees in other states?
How it works
When entering a street address, you'll see a drop-down menu that populates verified addresses as you type. You must select from the verified address menu to ensure withholdings and deductions are calculated accurately, as well as that all the proper forms are filed.*
It will populate the rest of the fields for you, based on your selection. You can always make a new selection, if you feel there's a mistake, but avoid changing any information in these fields manually. Always use the address helper.
Where will I need to use this?
You'll find the address helper when:
- Adding a new Company Worksite (opening a new location where employees will soon begin working) Need help Managing worksites? We'll show you how→
- Updating an employee worksite (an employee will begin working at an existing company worksite) Need help updating state payroll tax information? We'll show you how→
- Updating an employee address in their profile (an employee has moved to a new residence) Need help with this? (see below)
IMPORTANT:
Updating an employee’s home address generally means that the employee's state and local tax information must also be updated accordingly
If the zip code hasn't changed, is this really still important?
Yes. It really is. Here's why:
Below, are two houses located in the same Pennsylvanian town. Not only are these houses located in the same zip code, they're literally across the street from each other. And yet they have a 0.1% difference in their employee income tax obligations, because one lies in the Township of Silver Spring, where the other is in the Township of Monroe.
An error of this type could go unnoticed for a very long time, creating unexpected issues in withholding calculations, and fines for you and your employee. It's best to play it safe and use the address helper wherever present.
