For OnPay to effectively calculate state tax contributions, you'll need to ensure the tax rates entered in Onpay are correct for each state where your company has a tax obligations. For example, if you operate in both Maryland and Pennsylvania, you must keep payroll tax information up-to-date for each (and every) state where you pay employees.
What you'll need
- Maryland Account Number
- Maryland SUI percentage rate
Where to find your SUI tax information
Refer to the most recent Unemployment Insurance Tax Rate Notice you received from the Maryland Department of Labor.
- Your Employer Account Number can be found in the upper right of the first page
- Your Maryland SUI "Percentage" rate is listed on the second page, in the box marked "CONTRIBUTION RATE". Enter this percentage rate into OnPay.
Where to enter your rate in OnPay
Go to Company, then Payroll Taxes.
Do you pay employees in multiple states?
If so, select Maryland under "Payroll Taxes".
Use the Update button for Maryland SUI Rate, and enter the percentage found under "Contribution Rate" on the notice you received from the state.
In the pop-up calendar above "Choose Effective Date" indicated in the upper right of your notice (below account number), then enter your rate as a percent in the next field.
Click Save when you're done.
