For OnPay to effectively calculate state tax contributions, you'll need to ensure the tax rates entered in Onpay are correct for each state where your company has a tax obligations. For example, if you operate in both Maine and New Hampshire, you must keep payroll tax information up-to-date for each (and every) state where you pay employees.

Where to find your SUI tax information
Refer to the most recent Notice of Contribution Rate you received from the Maine Department of Labor's Bureau of Unemployment Compensation.
- Your UC Account Number can be found in the box in the upper right
- Your SUI Rate is listed as "Adjusted Unemployment Contribution Rate"
- Your Competitive Skills Scholarship Fund is listed as "CSSF Assessment Rate"
- Your Unemployment Program Administrative Fund is listed as "UPAF Assessment Rate"
Where to enter your rate in OnPay
Go to Company, then Payroll Taxes.
Do you pay employees in multiple states?
If so, select Maine under "Payroll Taxes".
Use the Update buttons to enter the following rates separately:
- SUI Rate
- Competitive Skills Scholarship Fund Rate
- Unemployment Program Administrative Fund Rate
In the pop-up calendar above "Choose Effective Date" indicated in the upper right of your notice (below account number), then enter your rate as a percent in the next field.
Click Save when you're done.
