What to know before you begin

Obtaining coverage:

While you can enter and manage your Workers' Comp class codes and rates for your employees, it is still your responsibility to set up and maintain your Workers' Comp policy. Entering information on this page does not give OnPay the ability to, or the responsibility of, reporting or paying your Workers' Comp premiums.

Where to find the information you need:

Look for the following information in the notice you received from your insurance provider:

• Class Code
• Name
• Rate

Keep in mind that this notice may have multiple class codes based on job duties.

 

Adding Workers' Comp class codes

Go to Company, then Workers' Comp. You'll see any workers' comp class codes already added here.

 

Click and type to update the Name or Rate. It should exactly match the information provided by your insurance provider.

 

Click +Add to enter a new class code with a new name and rate.

 

Select your state from the list, then enter the name, class code, and rate provided by your insurer.

Click Create when you're finished.

 

Paying employees in multiple states?

You likely have Workers' Compensation rates listed for each state where you have a worksite. Some states may even have multiple rates based on the job's potential for hazard. We'll cover this when we assign the policy and rate to the employee.

Assigning Workers' Comp class codes to employees

Now that the class code is setup, you can assign it to employees.

Paying employees in Washington? We've got special instructions just for you→

 

Click on the employee's profile in your dashboard.

Tip: You can also view employee profiles in the Workers tab

 

Click Job in the employee profile.

 

Scroll down until you find the "WC Rate" and "Workers' Comp Code".

 

Select the state where the employee works, and the appropriate Workers' Comp Code for their job. This change is saved automatically.
