Why is this important?
For employers who pay employees in Oklahoma, use this guide to learn what’s required to start running payroll while keeping compliant with state payroll tax regulations. Without this information, OnPay will be unable to file or deposit any Oklahoma tax payments for your company. Any penalties and interest that accrue from missed tax payments will be your company’s responsibility.

Where you can find the tax account numbers needed
If you are an existing employer who has previously run payroll in Oklahoma, you likely already have the IDs and online accounts needed for OnPay to process your tax filings.
If you are a new employer in Oklahoma, you will need to register your business with the Oklahoma Tax Commission and the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission. This must be completed for OnPay to be able to file and pay your Oklahoma taxes.
Withholding Tax Account Number
Existing Oklahoma Employer:
- You can find your Account ID on notices received from the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
New Oklahoma Employer: Register with the Oklahoma Tax Commission
- Click here to register your business
- Select “Register for a Business” and follow the prompts
- You should receive your Account ID and deposit schedule one day after registering online, 2 weeks if registering by mail, or the same day if registering in person.
- You will need to register with this department if you have employees that both live and work in Oklahoma, or for any employees that calculate Oklahoma withholding taxes regardless of where they live/work. If your business is located outside of Oklahoma, but your employees work or live in Oklahoma you will likely need to register with this agency.
All Oklahoma Employers: Grant TPA access in OK TAP
In order to prepare and file income taxes for the state of Oklahoma on your behalf, you are required by the state to grant us Professional Tax Preparer Approval (TPA) access to your Oklahoma Taxpayer Access Point (OK TAP).
To do this:
- Go to OK TAP and setup a passphrase for Third Party Access (TPA) within your account
- Email us at hello@onpay.com and include the TPA passphrase you’ve chosen
- Using the TPA passphrase you’ve provided, we’ll send you an access request via OK TAP
- In OK TAP, approve our TPA request by doing the following:
- Click My Profile on the sidebar
- Go to Access to My Accounts
- Click Access Level for the TPA requested account type (Withholding - Wage Tax). Note: They will be grayed-out until marked active
- Select “All Access” from the access level menu, and click the “Active” checkbox.
Click Submit to grant OnPay the TPA access required to file on your behalf
Unemployment Account Number and Tax Rate
Existing Oklahoma Employer:
- Existing employers can find the Unemployment Account Number on the following forms:
- Your Unemployment Tax Rate can also be found on the notice of the employer's contribution rate. Employer contribution rates range from 0.3% to 7.5% for SUTA, with a wage base of $24,800.
New Oklahoma Employer: Register with the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (405) 557-7100
- Register your business with the OESC.
- Click “Create an Employer Account” and follow the prompts.
- You should receive your number and tax rate in 2-3 weeks after registering online.
- You will need to register with this department if you have employees that work in Oklahoma. If your business is located out of the state, but some of your employee's primary work location is in Oklahoma, you will likely need to register with this agency.
- New employers generally have a rate of 1.5% for SUTA, with a wage base of $24,800.
All Oklahoma Employers: Grant OnPay TPA access
You will also need to add OnPay as your third party agent on your Oklahoma EZ Tax Express account. Please follow the instructions below to do so:
- Create a login on the EZ Tax Express website. If you already have a login, please log in to your account.
- Once you have logged in, select "Manage TPA Relationships" from the menu.
- To add us as your TPA, you will need to search for our FEIN. Our FEIN is 47-4413175. The name of our business is listed as OnPay, Inc.
- Once you have selected us as the TPA, you will grant us access to your account. Please email us at hello@onpay.com once you have completed these steps on the EZ Tax Express.
Oklahoma Power of Attorney Forms
OnPay works with government entities on your behalf, reporting new hires to state labor departments, calculating tax liabilities, and filing financial reports. To do this effectively, you will need to sign a Power of Attorney form. To do so, please follow the instructions in this article.
