If your employer uses OnPay for time tracking, you can clock in and out for work using the OnPay app on your smartphone, or by logging into OnPay on a computer, but that's only the beginning.
You also have access to:
- Track your on-the-clock hours using weekly time cards
- Add comments your manager can see and respond to
- Fix missing or incorrect punches
Why is this important?
Each time you clock in and out, you create an entry in your time card. These entries are used to calculate the total hours worked (including any overtime hours) for each week. These totals are then automatically applied to your paycheck, so it's important to review time cards periodically, to make sure everything looks correct.
Viewing time cards
To view your time cards, click the expansion box in the upper-right corner of the time clock tile, or click Clock In/Out in the side menu.
Select the pay period
When reviewing your time card, start by making sure you're looking at the right pay period. Depending on how often you get paid, a pay period may include information from multiple weekly time cards.
Time card overview
At the top of your time card is the date range of the current pay period, and the total hours for the period. For each day in the period, you’ll see your clocked-in hours (with start and end times), your total hours, and details like breaks taken. You can also add time to a day using the plus bar.
Details and action labels
The “Details" column uses button iconography to indicate breaks taken (with duration), manual entry of hours, and comments. Click any of these buttons to add details, like correcting a time punch, or reading and leaving comments.

Warnings
A warning will appear when a punch is missing. In the below example, the employee clocked in at 12:09 PM, but didn’t clock out for their shift on Thursday. If your time card has a warning like this, you’re able to edit your time to make a correction. Your manager can see when you’ve made a change to your time card.
Missing time punch.
You'll see a warning when we detect a time punch that appears to be missing.
This warning is usually triggered by not clocking out to end a shift, or
by not ending a break when returning to work during a shift.
Editing time cards
Editing existing hours
To edit hours for a given day in a time card, click time you want to adjust. This can be the field displaying the start/end times, or the break button (if present).
In the expanded field, click to edit the start and end times of your shift. You can also add a rest or meal break.
Enter hours in "01:23A/P" format
Enter time in the standard 12hr format, with a leading zero for hours 1-9, followed by an “A” or “P” to indicate “AM” or “PM”.
Click Save when you’ve finished updating your time for this day.
A "Manual Entry" icon will appear after you've edited your time. If you need to communicate the reason for this change to your time card, you can add a comment for your manager to see.
Adding new hours
You can also add hours using the grey plus bar in each row.
This will create an additional shift for the day. This shift will have its own breaks, and total hours for the day.
Adding comments
Comments are useful in situations where you have a question about your time card, or need to make a note about your punch. Managers can also add comments to your time card that you can see and respond to.
When you hover over a row in your time card, the comments button will appear in the "Details" column. Click to add a comment to this shift on your time card.
Enter any information you need to communicate to your manager about your time card entries for this shift, and click Post.
Your comment is posted on your time card, timestamped with your name, and is visible by your manager or managers.
Manager comments are posted the same way, with their name and a timestamp, with the most recent messages at the top.
Viewing historical time cards
You can return to the Pay Period menu to see your time cards for previous pay periods. Pay periods will be closed by your manager before processing your paycheck.
