Remember bank holidays when running payroll
Monday, September 1, is Labor Day (a federal banking holiday). The Federal Reserve pauses ACH payments on all federal holidays, which can delay direct deposit payments. If your payday falls on or immediately after this holiday, you may need to run payroll one business day early to avoid paying employees late. And if the payday falls on the holiday, you'll need to change the check date.
Check dates scheduled for Monday, September 1 should be adjusted to Friday, August 29, and submitted by Wednesday, August 27, to avoid paying employees late*.
If your payday falls on Tuesday, September 2, you won't need to change the check date to avoid paying employees late, but you will need to submit payroll one business day earlier*.
*Based on a 2-day turnaround. For 4-day turnaround, submit by August 25 (see payroll schedules below).

How to adjust the check date
You can change the Check Date in the Payroll menu, by opening the Run Payroll Options in the upper right.
The Check Date can be adjusted to Friday, 8/30, provided it is submitted by 8/28 at 11:30 pm.
Please keep in mind, OnPay schedules the effective direct deposit date based on information entered when running payroll and your turnaround time within OnPay. Depending on date payroll is submitted step of the pay run, the direct deposit effective date may differ from the examples outlined above.
