For OnPay to effectively calculate state tax contributions, you'll need to ensure the tax rates entered in Onpay are correct for each state where your company has a tax obligations. For example, if you operate in both Carolinas, you must keep payroll tax information up-to-date for each (and every) state where you pay employees.
What you'll need
- South Carolina UI Employer Account Number
- South Carolina total UI contribution rate
- South Carolina Departmental Administrative Contingency Assessment Rate

Where to find your SUI tax information
Refer to the most recent Tax Rate Notice you received from the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce.
- Your Account Number is listed in the upper right
- Your SUI rate is listed as "UI Contribution Rate", in the first row of the table on your notice
- Your admin Contingency Assessment Rate is in the third row of the table on your notice
Where to enter your rate in OnPay
Go to Company, then Payroll Taxes.
Do you pay employees in multiple states?
If so, select South Carolina under "Payroll Taxes".
Enter the information provided in your tax notice. Use the Update buttons to enter the following rates separately:
- South Carolina SUI Rate (UI Contribution Rate)
- South Carolina Admin Contingency Assessment Rate
When setting your rate, use the pop-up calendar to select the effective date, as indicated in your notice. Click Save when you're done.
